What are dentures?
Dentures are custom-made removable (or implant-supported) replacements for missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. They restore your ability to chew, your appearance, and the support your facial muscles need to look their natural age. Modern dentures are nothing like the bulky, obviously fake-looking sets people remember from past decades — today’s restorations use high-strength acrylics, lifelike porcelain or composite teeth, and digital fit-mapping that produces a far more natural and comfortable result.
At Eco Dental NY in Brooklyn 11229, we offer the full denture spectrum: full upper or lower dentures, partial dentures that work around remaining healthy teeth, immediate dentures placed right after extractions, snap-on dentures supported by dental implants, and full-arch All-on-4 restorations that are fixed permanently in place. Dr. Natalia will help you choose what fits your missing-tooth pattern, your budget, and your quality-of-life goals.
Who is a good candidate for dentures?
Dentures are right for adults who are missing multiple teeth or a full arch. Common scenarios:
- Missing all teeth in an arch — upper, lower, or both — and want to chew and smile again
- Multiple missing teeth scattered across an arch — a partial denture fills the gaps without removing healthy neighboring teeth
- Failing remaining teeth due to severe gum disease or decay, where extraction is unavoidable
- Currently wear an ill-fitting older denture that slips, clicks, or has caused sore spots
- Not a candidate for individual implants for every tooth (cost, bone density) but want stability beyond a traditional denture
- Want a permanent fixed solution — All-on-4 fixes a full arch on four implants, never comes out
- Have just had teeth extracted and don’t want to go without teeth during healing — immediate dentures go in the same day
- Are generally healthy — most chronic conditions don’t disqualify denture or implant treatment, though smoking and uncontrolled diabetes slow implant healing
Not sure which denture type is right? Bring your concerns — sore spots, slipping, eating restrictions, appearance — and Dr. Natalia will lay out the realistic options without pressure.
The denture process at Eco Dental NY
Step 1: Free consultation & treatment plan
Call (718) 368-3368 or book online. Dr. Natalia examines your mouth, takes any necessary X-rays (and a 3D scan if implants are part of the plan), and discusses which denture type best fits your situation, budget, and quality-of-life goals. You leave with a written estimate and insurance verification.
Step 2: Impressions or digital scan
We take precise impressions of your remaining teeth and gum tissue — either with traditional dental putty or a digital intraoral scan. These records ensure the denture fits snugly without rocking, pinching, or pressing on sensitive spots.
Step 3: Bite registration & tooth try-in
Before the final denture is finished, you’ll preview a wax try-in with the planned teeth in place. We check the shade, shape, lip support, and bite. Adjustments are made until both you and Dr. Natalia are satisfied — this is the moment to speak up about how the teeth look and feel.
Step 4: Fitting your new denture
The final denture is processed at the lab (or milled in-house for digital workflows) and delivered to you for fitting. Dr. Natalia checks the bite, comfort, and esthetics, then makes any chair-side adjustments. For implant-supported options, the denture is fitted to the implant attachments and tested for stability.
Step 5: Follow-ups, relines & same-day repairs
Sore spots in the first weeks are normal and easily adjusted. Over time, gum tissue changes shape and the denture may need a reline (refitting the inside surface) every 2 to 5 years. If your denture breaks or a tooth pops out, we offer same-day repairs in most cases so you’re never left without teeth.
Types of dentures we offer in Brooklyn
Full dentures (upper or lower)
A complete replacement of all teeth in an arch. The upper denture is supported by suction against the palate; lowers rely on gum and bone for support. Best for patients missing all teeth in an arch who aren’t ready for implants. Lifespan typically 5 to 10 years before reline or replacement.
Partial dentures
Replaces several missing teeth while preserving your remaining healthy teeth. Anchored with discreet clasps or precision attachments. More affordable than implants and removable for cleaning. Lifespan 5 to 10 years with proper care.
Immediate dentures
Placed the same day as extractions so you never leave the office without teeth. They serve as a temporary while your gums heal (about 3 to 6 months), after which we either reline them or fabricate a permanent set custom-fit to your healed tissue.
Implant-supported (snap-on) dentures
A removable denture that snaps firmly onto 2 to 4 dental implants. No more slipping. No denture adhesive. You can take it out for cleaning at night. Vastly more stable than traditional dentures at a fraction of All-on-4 cost.
All-on-4 (fixed full-arch)
A permanent bridge of 12 to 14 teeth supported by just four strategically-placed implants. Never comes out. Many patients leave with a temporary fixed set the same day as surgery. Life-changing for patients who’ve struggled with traditional dentures for years.

“At 72 I had been struggling with a loose lower denture for years — embarrassing to eat in public, kept needing adhesive. Dr. Natalia placed two implants and snapped a new lower denture onto them. I can eat an apple again. I can laugh without holding my hand to my mouth. Wish I had done this five years ago.”

Denture FAQs
How long does it take to get a new denture?
From first consultation to final fitting typically takes 4 to 8 weeks for traditional full or partial dentures. Immediate dentures are placed the same day as extractions. Implant-supported dentures take longer because the implants need 3 to 6 months to integrate before the final denture is attached.
Will my new denture feel comfortable right away?
Some adjustment is normal in the first weeks. Sore spots are common initially and easily resolved with quick chair-side adjustments. Speech and chewing usually feel natural within a few weeks as your cheeks, tongue, and lips adapt to the new prosthesis.
What’s the difference between snap-on dentures and All-on-4?
Snap-on dentures are removable — they clip onto 2 to 4 implants and you can take them out at night for cleaning. All-on-4 is a fixed bridge that’s permanently attached to four implants and only your dentist removes it. Snap-on costs less; All-on-4 feels most like having natural teeth back. Both are vastly more stable than traditional dentures.
How do I clean my dentures?
Rinse after eating, brush daily with a soft denture brush and denture cleaner (not regular toothpaste — too abrasive), and soak overnight in a denture-cleaning solution or plain water. Keeping the denture moist prevents warping. Regular professional cleanings at our office every 6 months keep both the denture and your gum tissue healthy.
How long do dentures last?
Traditional dentures last 5 to 10 years before needing replacement, with relines typically every 2 to 5 years as gum tissue changes shape. Implant-supported dentures last longer because they don’t put pressure on the gum and the underlying bone stays stable. The implants themselves can last a lifetime.
Will I be able to eat normally with dentures?
Traditional dentures restore about 20-30% of natural chewing force — most foods are fine, but very hard or sticky items can be a challenge. Implant-supported dentures restore 70-90% of natural chewing force — patients can eat steak, corn on the cob, apples, and other foods that traditional denture wearers usually avoid.
Does insurance cover dentures?
Most dental insurance plans cover 50% of traditional full and partial dentures after your annual deductible. Implant-supported options are partially covered — the denture portion is usually a benefit; the implants themselves often aren’t, though some plans contribute. We verify your specific benefits before treatment and offer CareCredit financing for out-of-pocket portions.
